Family therapy is a type of psychological counselling (psychotherapy) that focuses on working with families. It draws on the family’s strengths and resources to assist them to resolve difficulties they are experiencing. This may include: family conflicts, communication difficulties, children’s behavioural issues, school refusal, mental health issues, family breakdown.
The certification program in family therapy is suitable for final year master students in counselling and psychology or clinicians from psychology, counselling and social work.
The certification program facilitated by David Hong provides students with the opportunity to develop fundamental knowledge and skills in the practice of family therapy. The program encompasses three modules each involving 5 days of face to face intensive training, group supervision as well as a web forum to facilitate discussion on relevant topics.
